Some dogs are used to the so-called monodiet. That is, they were given one type of food (e.g. dry food of the same type plus possibly modest flavors). This allows the intestines to get used to digesting a particular food and just adapt to it. This is why some dogs have intestinal problems when changing food or adding other ingredients to their diet - they are not adapted to digesting a variety of foods.

Therefore, remember a few things:

Introduce food gradually over the course of 1-2 weeks. This is how dog eaters are made.

Remember that the rewards should be as natural as possible - that is, those that you prepare yourself. Carrots, apple, parsley, pumpkin, broccoli, cucumber, beetroot, celery, cooked turkey breast, etc. By giving prizes, various types of snacks (in the permitted amount, which I wrote about above), we will contribute to the fact that our dog's intestines accept various types food. The exercises are supposed to be fast and effective, with plenty of repetition.

Do you take your dog for a walk and want to have some treats at hand? The main role in the diagnosis of the causative agent of food allergy is played by an elimination diet, and here mono-protein foods come to our aid.

What is the pattern for such dogs?

First, the animal is fed a mono-protein feed with a known protein source for several weeks. If no negative reaction of the organism occurs, the next food rich in protein from another animal is selected for testing. Subsequently, additional types of mono-protein feeds are given until symptoms of allergy or food intolerance appear. Thanks to this, it is possible to precisely determine which protein is responsible for the appearance of allergic symptoms.

Dogs with a sensitive gut will also benefit from a monoprotein diet. If your dog has a link between a certain type of food and symptoms such as gas, gas, vomiting or loose stools, eliminate him from the diet. It is often the owners that change the feeds too quickly. I understand that we want the best for our dogs, but the body needs time to get rid of the toxins that were causing him allergic reactions.

How are dog eaters formed?

Why is our dog becoming a fussy eater?

The reasons may be different. If our dog is healthy, there are no dental problems or gastrointestinal disorders, then in most cases the causes of this condition should be looked for in us.

Check if you are serving too many snacks between meals?

Is your dog overeating during training sessions?

These are the root causes. Now let us note the regularity below.

We love our dogs and we treat them as members of our family - we want to take care of them. What we have coded first when I talk about taking care of our dogs - feeding our dog. We want to make sure our dog is well fed.

I want my children to be well nourished, so although they eat a sweet bar, half an hour later I would like them to eat a nutritious dinner that will provide them with all the necessary nutrients. Only here the problem arises, the children are saturated. The right dose of sugar is circulating in their bloodstream and they don't mind reaching for a healthy meal.

It's the same with dogs. We go to the morning training, during which our dog will eat some flavors (too much and the wrong size) that fill him. Then we offer him a bowl of healthy, nutritious food, and he turns and walks away. Oh my! After all, our dog must eat a nutritious meal! So we add some pate, eggs, cheese to the bowl… .and at that moment… .. we are gone. Our dog will be waiting for us to do it again. And a vicious circle begins, and finally we decide to change the food because our dog is "bored". He did not get bored! We taught him this, and it all started with the first stuffed belly - the root cause, remember? A secondary cause is precisely the "enrichment" of the food bowl with other delicacies.

So what to do in this case? It's hard, we hide the bowl and wait for the dog to get hungry. We are not handing out a piece of chicken with sympathy. Dogs won't starve. As long as they are healthy, as I wrote earlier, they will eventually choose the food we offer them. However, they can play psychological games very well - oooooh sometimes they can keep us for a few days. Dogs, however, are not cats. In order to survive, a cat has to eat and a non-eating cat has to be rushed to the vet. In the case of our dogs, we just need to cut this emotional relationship between the food (as a source of care) and the dog. And here there is undoubtedly an emotional connection, which is why it is so difficult for us to be consistent.

A healthy dog? Usually, we are able to see when something starts to happen to our pet. Food refusal in most cases is not a symptom of the disease. And if you have to mix it with something, do it with something else (pate, egg) after eating the food, not before.

Do not add anything to the feed! Do not force 300 grams of pet food just because it says so on the packaging. And even more so, don't worry if your dog eats only 270 grams a day and doesn't want more. The need for food is associated with the expenditure of energy, but not only.

Feed dosage:

Package Doodle Food suggests food portions depending on the weight and age of the dog. Sometimes it may happen that the doses given by the manufacturer will be a bit too high and sometimes they will be a bit too low. This is because each dog has a different caloric requirement. One will use more energy during the day and the other less. There are times when puppies enter the stage of intensive growth and appear hungry. A dog that undergoes prolonged physical exertion, a pregnant female, a nursing mother or a dog convalescing after illness will need significantly more calories per day than a moderately active dog.

So if we see that our dog would like to eat more food (and I'm not talking about flavors here - because your pet will have an unlimited appetite for these).
