Prebiotics FOS and MOS - What are they all about and their beneficial effects on the digestive system?

In karma Doodle Food we use two types prebioticswhose pronunciation is quite difficult - fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) and mannanoligosaccharides (MOS). The prebiotics FOS and MOS occur naturally in plants such as garlic, onions, asparagus, chicory, artichokes and bananas. They help to maintain an active and efficient digestive system of our pet.

Just like in humans, our pet's colon contains many bacteria that help break down some of the ingredients in food.

There are many good bacteria or prebiotics in the colon of pets, such as Lactobacillus - sticks, which are the most numerous among the group of lactic acid bacteria, and Bifidobacterium which is one of the most important microorganisms inhabiting the digestive system. FOS and MOS are used as a food source for these bacteria, which enables them to grow and reproduce, thus preventing the growth of bad bacteria.

Bad bacteria include, among others Salmonella - a genus of bacteria of the Enterobacteriaceae family i Clostridium - a genus of anaerobic bacteria of the Firmicutes type consisting of about 100 species. Bad bacteria can sometimes take over, causing digestive problems making the animal feel unwell. Doodle Food uses the FOS and MOS prebiotics to attempt to increase the number of healthy, good bacteria in your pet's digestive system to have a better chance of reducing the number of bad bacteria.
